I loved watching Beetlejuice as a kid, and now my boys are obsessed with it, so I was thrilled when I discovered this spooky, colorful cocktail.

Despite its unusual hues, this sweet, fruity drink tastes nothing like it looks. It’s one of my favorite Halloween cocktails to serve when friends and family gather for some eerie fun.

This vodka-based cocktail is built from bright, flavorful liqueurs — melon liqueur (Midori), raspberry liqueur (Chambord), and blue curaçao — combined with sweet & sour mix. Topped with cranberry juice, the colors meld into a creepy greenish-brown when stirred, which is perfect for Halloween. If you prefer layered drinks, pour the cranberry gently on top and leave it un-stirred for a dramatic effect.

As the movie says, “let’s turn on the juice and see what shakes loose.” Serve these with a theatrical announcement and a striped straw for the full Beetlejuice vibe.

Glassware and presentation add to the fun — use black-and-white striped straws or skull-themed glasses for theatrics. I used skull double old-fashioned glasses for these photos.

If you want to hear strangers’ reactions, a podcast once featured this recipe on a Halloween episode, where they made the cocktail as a retro treat.
