Today I’m sharing a short, simple recipe that has helped me through a difficult phase of recovery. My healing hasn’t progressed as quickly as I hoped, and I’ve had to focus much of my energy on treatment and rest. It’s been an emotional, winding journey, and nourishing food plus a steady yoga practice have been essential supports. I’ve been leaning on smoothies, salads and whole foods—lots of fruits and vegetables—for steady, calming energy.
This smoothie was inspired by yogic philosophy and designed to stimulate the sacral chakra. The sacral chakra, or svadhisthana, sits between the pubic bone and the navel and is associated with creative energy, sensuality and the generative power of life. To honor that connection I blended tropical fruits that offer bright, energizing flavors and color, along with a pinch of cinnamon for warmth. Cinnamon is often considered an aphrodisiac and pairs beautifully with mango, so it felt like the perfect touch.
May this smoothie support your practice and your health—enjoy mindfully. Namaste.
