Welcome to Autumn: Seasonal Tips, Decor Ideas, and Events

Coco is excited—fall has finally arrived. Well, technically we had a freeze warning last night, so when we woke up it felt more like winter than autumn.

The leaves are beginning to change. Because of the recent drought many trees went dormant early, but a few held on. With roughly five inches of rain this past week, those survivors may still turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold.

I’m grateful the drought has broken. Weather here tends to swing between extremes: feast or famine when it comes to rain. I wish we could have sent some of ours to California; it’s heartbreaking to see the situation there on the news.

I always worry about running out of candy for trick-or-treaters, so I buy a big bag every year. We only had about twenty kids this time, thankfully. I also bought only the types of candy we like—so you can guess how long the leftovers lasted.

Coco loves fall as much as I do. She gets playful chasing leaves as they blow across the yard. You don’t need to change her coloring to know she belongs to autumn—she’s an autumn spirit through and through.

I used Topaz Labs for an artsy effect on one of my photos.
