Ruth Forshee’s Signature Barbecue Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

4 small cans tomato paste
5 1/2 cans water
1/2 cup vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2–1 1/2 cups brown sugar (adjust to taste)
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons margarine or butter (oleo)
2 tablespoons onion salt
2 tablespoons celery seed
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 tablespoon–1/2 cup molasses (start with less and add to taste)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
